Well I shed another tear for a fallen soldier. Though not as many Canadian Soldiers have died lately it's always difficult for me to deal with even one death. I have a great respect for the Armed Forces.
Why do I cry for a soldier? Well, once you have given your life to the Armed Forces, even for a few short years. A little army always stays in your blood. Just like a Mason, once a Mason, always a Mason. Once an RCR, always a soldier.
I finally joined the Legion the other week. It was about time and something I should have done years ago.
I even met an old buddy I had worked with many years ago at Pilkington Glass. He was an RCR and got out sometime in 1962. Even, though he was only ten years my senior he had not aged gracefully. I found it difficult for me to recognize him. I guess maybe that's why I find it difficult to attend reunions.
